QuBit Electronix Nano Rand

QuBit
Electronix
Nano Rand
Qu-Bit Electronix has published more info and a video about their latest module, the Nano Rand.

"Nano Rand is a sample and hold, noise source, and random voltage generator in 4 HP.
It takes inspiration from and improves upon the analog concept of a random voltage module; moving forward in leaps and bounds into the digital domain.
At its core is an 8 bit microcontroller which allows for an extremely versatile, and more importantly, musical type of random.

- 4 switchable random voltage algorithms
- Can be internally or externally clocked
- Random gate source that generates musical derivatives of incoming clock
- Generates random frequency audio rate square waves allowing it to be both audio and control source
- Random voltage can be unipolar or bipolar

Specifications:
Width: 4hp
38.1mm (Skiff friendly)
Power: 60mA
Price: $190.00"

Qu-Bit Electronix Tri-ger

Qu-Bit Electronix  released this video 4 months ago without much additional info, but this Tri-ger
offers 3 manual gates, and some kind of Gate-pattern recorder/looper.
This module with big arcade-style buttons looks pretty amazing, and will come in very handy if you want to program drum-patterns that are not quantized.

The Qu-Bit team recently explained in an episode of The Distilery Podcast that this is not the final Tri-ger version yet, and that there will be another prototype produced before a finished module will reach the markets.
A new version will probably include a few quantize options and other functions, the arcade-style buttons will probably stay...

More info will be added here when available

SiteTip: The Distillery Podcast by Sam Botstein

Samuel Botstein is a composer, performer, sound and instrument designer based in Los Angeles, California.
Botstein is known for his experimental and electronic music and performances on trumpets,
turntables, and synthesizers.

Botstein is also the host of The Distillery, a very interesting interview podcast series focused on figures in the world of  music technology.

Look at the impressive episode-list with the people he already interviewed, and have a listen...

New episodes seem to appear very frequent lately (weekly?), so keep an eye on The Distillery's website and don't miss another episode...

Qu-Bit Electronix RT60 DSP Multi-FX

Qu-Bit Electronix (known from their debut Eurorack Nebulæ audio file player/granular oscillator) recently released a few new modules.
I will blog about the Nano Rand once i know a bit more... but first this...

QU-Bit RT60
The RT60 is an 8HP wide, skiff-friendly stereo multi-effects processor that features 7 high quality DSP effects running from the venerable Spin Semiconductor FV-1 chip.
It sounds very impressive and the cool thing is that all parameters of this module can be controlled via CV, even the switching between effects.

Main Features:
- Wet/dry control
- Voltage control over ALL parameters.
- Stereo in/out
- 7 unique DSP effects including reverb, delay, flange, tremolo and pitch shift
- Dynamic switching of effects
- Power consumption: 70mA

Also check out the initial demo that bigcitymusic published today, find it at http://youtu.be/BeWFWqa1pDA

QU-Bit Electronix Nebulæ

QU-Bit Electronix is a new Eurorack modular synthesizer company based in North America founded by Andrew Ikenberry and Jason Lim.
They love open source hardware/software, and put their knowledge together to create this first QU-Bit module, the Nebulæ.

QU-Bit Nebulæ module
Nebulæ is an audio file player/granular oscillator in the Eurorack modular synthesizer format.
It uses sound files to create loops, melodies, granular clouds, drones, pads and any sound recorded audio is capable of generating.
It comes with 1 GB of royalty free samples recorded and mastered specifically for Nebulæ.

Main features:
- Plays .wav, .aif, .flac , and .ogg files from a USB device- No naming convention for files
- Independent control of pitch and speed
- 1 V/oct pitch tracking
- MIDI control over all parameters
- DSP engine by Csound ( Csound is a C-Based Audio Programming Language) http://www.csounds.com/
- Looping / one shot capabilities

The Nebulæ looks like a pretty awesome and flexible module to me, especially with the easy file-import via USB.
It can be yours for USD 429.00
They are now (december 6) accepting a limited number of pre orders on the site (http://www.qubitelectronix.com/) and anticipate to start shipping in mid to late December.

Say hi to them on Twitter: https://twitter.com/qubitelectronix (new)
